Most embarrassing moment? My wife learning what I weighed

Favorite Christmas present ever? Super Helmet Seven when I was nine years old

If you couldn't do your current job, what would you like to do for a profession? Travel agent

Most embarrassing moment? Umpire home plate with 7 yr old girls and I called strike 3 and the girl at the plate said that is only strike 2 and she was right

Where did you grow up? I grew up in Royal Oak, MI about 5 miles north of Detroit. I've been a lifelong Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons, Spartans, and (ahem) Lions fan.

What's in your iPod? My iPod has over 2500 songs from ABBA to ZZ Top; it has Aerosmith, Bach, and Clapton; Sinatra and Santana; it has U2, 4Him, and 38 Special; it has Bob Bennett, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Bob Sager, Bob Welch, Bobby Darin, Bob Harrington and Bob VanFleteren

Favorite Bible verse? A lot to choose from, but I like: Mark 12:33 "To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."

Favorite TV show? I prefer live sports and old home videos featuring the kids

What brought you to Harpeth? The Holy Spirit, in 1999

Favorite comfort food? Ice cream has healed many wounds in my lifetime

One thing people would be surprised to learn about you? I'm in good physical shape for my age, but I hate working out and it took me a year to consume 100 One-a-Day's

Favorite Christmas present ever? Rock maple 2 X 4's, milled Sitka spruce, ½ redwood, black walnut lumber, zither pins, hitch pins, piano wire and brass and Delrin rods. Everything I needed to build a hammered dulcimer. (It meant Kay had snuck into my shop, found my master plans and bought everything I'd need. Pretty attentive, wouldn't you say?)

One thing people would be surprised to learn about you? I am scared of clowns and bears; especially a clown riding a bear.  

If you couldn’t do your current job, what would you like to do for a profession? Hunt clowns….and bears.

Where did you grow up? Bonners Ferrry Idaho – about 30 minutes south of the Canadian border in the Idaho panhandle

Describe your dream vacation? 2 ½ weeks…  First few days = me in the woods camping, riding dirt bikes, man time…  Followed by a week with the family all together somewhere near a beach with warm water… And saving the best for last, the final week traveling with my wife to someplace she’s always wanted to go and having a blast seeing her get excited about old stuff and history and what not.

Paper or plastic? Uh....sure

One thing people would be surprised to learn about you? Hmmm…I didn’t grow up in church?  I’ve worked with Junior High students for the last 8 years – once people know that they’re not really surprised by anything about me.

Most embarrassing moment? The list is too long!  One time I tried to text a funny sound bite from the movie “Dumb and Dumber” to a friend of mine that loves it… I accidentally sent it to his wife…  Let’s just say it was funny for him to get from me – not so funny for his wife to get from me!  Ooops!

Describe what you do on your day off? As little as possible….ha!  Still trying to figure that out here in TN.  Back home I’d go ride dirt bikes with some friends.  Have always loved going for drives up in the woods with the family, exploring, watching a movie… now more than ever I want to spend time with my family and treasure my time with them and my wife.

Describe your dream vacation Secluded log cabin with a fireplace tucked up in a mountain forest with a great view of a lake accompanied by good food, good music, good books and my family.

One thing people would be surprised to learn about you? OMG - there's so much . . . I can't let my food groups touch each other on my plate. I can't stand dirt under ANYBODY'S fingernails unless they've just stopped working in the garden. However, dust on my hardwood floors doesn't seem to bother me.

Most embarrassing moment? Having my little brother pinning me to the ground as the cool neighborhood boys walked by when I was in 8th grade.

Favorite Christmas present ever? Barbie Doll house. Not because of Barbie dolls - I never played with dolls, but because I loved putting the house together and rearranging the furniture - at age five!

If you couldn't do your current job, what would you like to do for a profession? I am a Physician Assistant by license and profession so I am doing what I want to do. My backup plan is the roller derby

One thing people would be surprised to learn about you? I have an unhealthy mistrust of dentists.

If you couldn't do your current job, what would you like to do for a profession? Choreograph/Dance

Most embarrassing moment? In my 20's at an elite party someone mentioned "Preparation H." I said, "I still don't understand how people can keep them in their nostrils without falling out." At that time I thought hemorrhoids were in the nose!

Favorite Bible verse? I adopt a different "favorite" at different times in my life, but the one I tend to go back to most often is Proverbs 3: 5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight."

Favorite TV show? Psych (but only if it's recorded - I don't like commercials)

Favorite comfort food? A steaming hot bowl of homemade soup (with lots of cayenne pepper)

If you couldn't do your current job, what would you like to do for a profession? that is easy...photography

One thing people would be surprised to learn about you? Only 1 thing? I'm no where near as organized as some at work would think - ask my family.

Original recipe or extra crispy? It really doesn't matter 'cause I peel the skin off before I eat it anyway. If I had to eat KFC, I'd order the new grilled version.

What one item in your bathroom could you not live without? Toilet paper - who wouldn't choose this?

Describe what you do on your day off. Chores, errands, sports w/the kids, etc. But, I'd rather be camping!

Favorite TV show? Ok fine...I DVR Days of our Lives - it takes me out of reality for 1 hour.

What brought you to Harpeth? My husband and I were commuting to Smyrna to church and were not feeling "plugged in" because of the distance. We decided to look for a church closer to home. My mom said she saw a sign for a church that meets at Hunters Bend School - so we checked it out. We felt welcomed and accepted that first visit...and this has been our home church since….almost 9 years ago!

Describe your dream vacation. A 3 month cruise around the world - with lots of stops! And, my entire family with me.

Greatest moment in your life so far? My greatest moment in life was finding out I was pregnant with my kids.

Paper or plastic? Usually plastic because I can't ever remember to bring my stupid bags I bought to the store!

Most embarrassing moment? When Nikki Knight pulled my pants down in the 8th grade hall!
